PNP Staffing Group was founded in 1996 by Gayle Brandel with a simple belief: nonprofits deserve recruiting partners who truly understand their missions.

Originally known as Professionals for NonProfits, PNP became the first staffing firm dedicated exclusively to the nonprofit sector. Drawing on her experience in nonprofit financial and business management, Gayle built PNP to support organizations through thoughtful, mission-aligned hiring and long-term capacity building.

A SHARED BEGINNING

Nurys Pedersen began her nonprofit recruiting career at PNP Staffing Group, eventually serving as Vice President. Her time at PNP shaped her values and deepened her connection to mission-driven work.

In 2006, Nurys moved to Chicago to start Careers In Nonprofits, building her own organization grounded in the same respect for nonprofits, their people, and their purpose.

A NATURAL NEXT CHAPTER

For years, PNP Staffing Group and Careers In Nonprofits grew alongside one another, united by a shared commitment to the nonprofit sector.

When Gayle Brandel decided to retire in 2022, PNP Staffing Group was acquired by Careers In Nonprofits — ensuring the organization’s legacy would remain in nonprofit-focused, mission-driven hands.

Today, PNP Staffing Group continues its work as part of Careers In Nonprofits, carrying forward the values it was founded on more than 30 years ago.
